Hi All, I see in the service manual that the reason I am not getting 24V to the key counter is because there is a fuse inline, but where is this fuse actually located? Is it on the logic board under the scanner? I tried simulating an open fuse by removing the long round fuses on the power supply board of a working machine but no luck. Nowhere in the service manual can I find any sort of explanation about the fuses.

I don't know if there is an inline fuse for this. Many times there are fuses on the engine pcb that don't even look like any kind of a "regular fuse". The ones I'm talking about actually looks like a can capacitor. You might try checking where the 24v supply for the key counter comes off the engine pcb and trace it to something like I described on the board. I just looked in the KM-C3232 book and that's exactly how it is shown-on the engine pcb. Use a magnifying glass and read the value off the top of the can if thats what it is. You should be able to get something very close to fitting the one on the board from one of the big electronic supply houses like Mouser or Digi-Key. I didn't bother with getting the exact replacement, I just ordered a picofuse from Digi-key with axial wire leads. Worked fine on the KM-C3232 shorting 24v wire problem in the finisher. Just have to be very careful with your desoldering and resoldering. If it is a surface mount component I would not know what to advise you to do. Good luck.

Well, one of our techs showed great ambition and soldered a fuse onto the board. It restored the 24V to the key counter plug but for some unknown reason, we are still not getting a pulse output. I guess we will next swap out the whole board.
