Is anyone experiencing very low yields on black toner on these units. Our client is averaging 3,800 pages out of 20K Toner? They are a medical office that does primarily B&W 500 or so color images. We have been keeping an eye on this client for the last few months but either someone is stealing the toner, or possibly they are leaving the lid open when they are doing id copying. Any thoughts?

Silly question, but is the Firmware completely up to date. Numerous issues have been addressed with the multitude of updates that had been released.

Yes all updates have been done. Don't have any trends to show this significant of a yield issue across the product line.

Thanks for your reply

This question has been asked a few times this year. I've experienced it, but it's isolated, not across the board.

On one I found that there was a digitized pattern being transferred to the primary transfer belt, only in black, and it was happening during whenever it was cycling. That copier was a brand new under the major account program, was replaced by Kyocera.

Another I've had happen in the last couple of months, it was blowing through black toner about at your rate. It's an assisted-living home, no all-black prints or anything. The black developer unit was replaced as our best guess, and that appears to have fixed it as we are not receiving black toner requests from the account anywhere near as often as before.

2 thing I would do to monitor this.
1st run a toner yield printout from the machine, second set the machine to email when a low toner condition is detected. This email will include a meter report so you can clearly see how often the toner is being added.

You will most likely never get 20,000, but 3,800 is way too low. We are averaging about 14,000 per black on most of our units.

We are having the same problems with the 500ci. Toner yeild is very low on some machines. It is hard to make money when you are getting 10K from a cartridge that is rated at 25K and you are updating the machine firmware twice a month.
