Hi All, I have a month old 500ci with about 5k on it. I went out to service it for a blue line on all color copiies. I took out the drum and dev units (and fuser and transfer belt asm) and when I put everything back together, it came up with a C0630 error. I rechecked my connectors and tried U906 but it did not help. I upgraded the firmware but it still will not come to ready and continues to display C0630. Any ideas?

It's related to the CIS connector that goes above the network jack. Tech Bulletin 2 talks about it. I'm not sure why that would be giving problems if you just took the drums out.

I tried using sim U024 and the machine still came up with a C0630 but this time in tiny letters at the bottom of the screen it displayed the message "the optional font is not properly installed". So I tried code U024 again and this time the machine did not throw up an error code but it did light up the error light on the display panel and the entire screen had that same "font" message this time in huge type face, but at the bottom of the screen it offered a box to touch that said "closed" so when I touched that box that machine finally came to ready! Now it copies and prints as normal, but if you turn it off, every time it warms up, it tells you that same message and you have to close that message box to get to the ready screen. I will try reloading the firmware. Thanks for the idea of U024!

Reloading the latest firmware will fix that font error. It was brought up in this mornings webinar. Those optional font files are stored on the hard drive, so a U024 will erase them, causing the machine to whine. A firmware update will copy them back over to the hard drive. Version 5.0 will supposedly store them in flash with the rest of the firmware.

What was the cause of the blue line, Rod? We had one on a 400ci and cleaned out the drum unit. This eliminated the issue but could use some suggestions if it comes back.

I still am unable to make the blue line go away. I just ordered up a new drum unit this morning. How were you able to clean your drum unit? I thought they were a sealed unit with no serviceable parts inside?

I gave Cohas a hand with his 5050. I replaced the hard drive and that got rid of his C6000 code. Obviously there is more stored on the HDD than Kyo is telling us. More than image storage, fonts, scanned docs and shortcuts! If you find out enlighten us! Z No HOPE, just BROKE. Anyone else - 2012

We have had this several times. The connector when you have the dp760 for the cis can come partially disconnected(by the print connection). Check it out.

313z...that was a great job by u...on the hd issue, quite frankly...that was a first for me since some of the info stored in the hd files are not relate to fuser issues but i do realize some of the codes are stored in the hd for reference. the most common problem is 0630, & i have seen it many times...the hd info i was searching overseas turn out to be a similar but not the same sympton...i do look forward to find out if a sector of the hd is login the c-code data and then creating errors issue... who knows it sounds more like a corrupted sectors craching the hd...weird... DUMMIETEk...keeep u posted...

Blue line was lead to trail. Another tech tried the cleaning on the drum unit by unclipping the drum shaft, sliding it out, removing the drum and vacuuming the cleaning auger. Just found out it only lasted 3 days and the line came back. Back to the drawing board. The copier has 17k on it.

Is not the 0630 code the one displayed for your document feeder on the right hand side that became unplugged. You can either widen the connector base or you can add the new peice that Kyocera came up with to cover the connector.
