I have a customer who received an AR-407 with a large capacity feeder and a finisher. The large capacity feeder is disabled. I need to know how to get into service mode on this machine to see if I can reset the disabled feeder and to reset the key op code. How can I get a service manual for one of these? The Sharp dealer in this area will not service this machine since it is rather remote. We picked it up as a courtesy to the customer since they have several pieces of equipment from us. I currently have the feeder disconnected and moved away from the machine. I used to work on Sharps, but that was 15 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

With some hunting around you can get free manuals. Sometimes the guys at Smarka.com will email you the manual for free. I use JustManuals.com a lot. It is a pay site and they have a really good collection and the download is reliable and simple. I have used them many times without a problem.

'Program' 'Interrupt' 'Clear' 'Interrupt' should get you into service mode.
Simulation 14 handles most resets - 15 handles LCF on some models. Simulation 22 subcode 7 should give you the current key operator code - change it from user mode after you have the current code. Relax? When?! |

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping not to work on this on a regular basis. Sharps used to be good 15 years ago. I'm not sure how they are today.

They seem to have the same old problems - fuser bearings that don't last, plastic stuff that breaks (but at least you can buy entire units now - which is what we do) and a lot of stuff that requires regular cleaning.
Relax? When?! |
